论听觉辅助字幕对于新加坡电视剧的适用性 ：以《信约：动荡的年代》、《起飞》和《你也可以是天使》为例 = The application of subtitling for the deaf and hard-of-hearing to Singapore dramas

听觉辅助字幕是一项相对较新的针对听障社群的视频和电影可及性的创新。听觉辅助字幕结合了所有的可听信息，包括音乐、音效、对话等并将其呈现为字体给观众。听觉辅助字幕的发展和运用主要发生于西方国家，而几乎没有一个东方国家采取这种做法来提供给障社群。据媒体报道，为了迎合各种族人民和听障人士的需求，新加坡的华文电视剧附上了普通英文字幕。然而，基本的字幕翻译只是提供语言内容，即对话、独白和符号等。若是为了提供给听障群体更完全的观看体验，目前的本地电视剧使用的字幕是不够的。 本文旨在研究如何将听觉辅助字幕应用于本地的华文电视剧中，以更好地满足听障群体的观看需求。首先，笔者对西方目前存有关于听觉辅助字幕实践进行研究，主要参考BBC和ITC的指导方针。其次，通过对三部不同类型的本地电视剧作出的分析，笔者选取了一些例子来说明当前字幕实践所呈现的信息与观众应该接受的全部信息之间的差距。其三部剧是《信约：动荡的年代》、《起飞》和《你也可以是天使》。此外，笔者还提出了一些建议，以说明将听觉辅助字幕融入本地电视剧的可行性。最后，为了更好地适应于新加坡的语境，笔者对于西方国家的指导方针提出了一些修改的需要。 Subtitling for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (SDH) is a relatively recent innovation in video and film accessibility for the Deaf and HoH community. Through SDH, viewers are provided with a combination of both audible and linguistic information. Primarily developed in Western societies, little to none of the East Asian countries have endeavored to establish a unified system, managing the translation and subtitling strategies of audiovisual texts targeted at Deaf and HoH community. Within the context of Singapore, basic multilingual subtitling in Chinese dramas is available for people of all races and the Deaf and HoH community. However, basic subtitling only provides linguistic contents including dialogues, monologues and signs. Such provisions are inadequate in providing equal viewing experiences to the Deaf and HoH community. This paper aims to study how the use of SDH can be incorporated into local Chinese dramas, in order to better cater to the needs of Deaf and HoH viewers. First, a research was conducted on existing SDH practices in the West, examining guidelines mainly from BBC and ITC. Next, by using three local Chinese dramas of different genres, the author identified examples illustrating gaps between information presented in current subtitling practices and information the viewer should originally receive. The three dramas are namely, The Journey: Tumultuous Times, Crescendo and You Can Be An Angel Too. In addition, suggestions were made to exemplify the feasibility of incorporating SDH into local dramas. Finally, the author raised several areas for modification to guidelines currently used in Western countries, with adaptations tailored to a Singaporean context.
