Over the last 20 years, she has acted and directed in numerous films for which she has received countless awards - the Hong Kong Film Golden Bauhinia Award, the Asia Pacific Film Festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival. Rene Liu's films constantly explore the relationship between everyday people and their sense of wandering. With the exception of films in the horror and martial arts genres, this thesis takes Rene Liu's films as the subject of study with the idea of a wandering destiny as the entry point. Through the analysis of the themes in her films, narrative strategies, sound strategies, and her personal life experiences, this thesis aims to scrutinize the embodiment of a wandering soul and lifestyle and examines Liu selects her scripts and directed them. |
