To complement and enhance national T2DM management policies, a stakeholder analysis was conducted to gather perspectives regarding the challenges faced by T2DM patients from multiple invested parties: (1) Patients, (2) Caregivers, (3) Healthcare Providers, and (4) Government Officials. Based on literature review and interviews, the team identified (1) Diet, (2) Exercise, (3) Education, (4) Medical-Related Financial Costs, and (5) T2DM-Implicated Transport Costs as major challenges to patients. All challenges are being/will be addressed, to varying degrees. Unfortunately, some T2DM patients receive inadequate assistance. Having identified areas for reinforcement, the team therefore recommends three policy proposals: (1) expand Community Health Assist Scheme subsidies to include dietary incentives, (2) expand HealthHub functionality to incorporate transport subsidies for low/middle-income patients, and (3) improve National Electronic Health Record through HealthHub integration of patient/caregiver feedback regarding out-of-hospital care management.
