This project explores Internet-of-Things (IoT) and develop an IoT device using Raspberry Pi and its hardware attached on top, MATRIX Creator.
In this work, we mainly target the microphone array on the MATRIX Creator.
A microphone array is a set of microphones operating in tandem, which is crucial for sound enhancement and to determine the direction of arrival. It has been an area of interest in research.
An omnidirectional microphone array can be designed to focus its pickup response to sound coming from a specific direction which reducing its pickup response from other directions. [1]
With IoT in mind, developed in this project are a custom firmware for Raspberry Pi with a MATRIX Creator attached on top of it, a PC Controller for the firmware, and a PC Recording Station. |
