The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems which are widely used in residential, commercial and industrial buildings are the major energy consumers. Although a major concern of the HVAC system is large amount of energy consumption, it is an important part of a building which is essential to provide a comfortable indoor environment for occupants since there has been an increasing amount of people working indoors in this modern world. Concurrently, with the limited amount of fossil fuels reserve and high energy demand, there is an increasing need to utilize technology which in turn can optimize the energy consumption and efficiency of the HVAC systems in buildings without compromising thermal comfort and indoor air quality. Accurate air balancing, which is a critical parameter in many processes, is dependent on the intelligent control techniques and precise flow measurement. Furthermore, accurate flow measurement is the foundation of any control algorithm. Therefore, the objectives of this project aim to conduct an experimental study on air balancing and the air flow for the HVAC system in terms of its accuracy and efficiency.
