The development of a mobile Android application would create a common platform for them to interact and engage with one another, increasing interest in Urban Farming. The mobile application is divided into 5 parts, Individual chat (for members to chat with one another, one to one.), Group Chat (between members), Events, Weather Forecast and last but not least a social feed (allowing users to share their experiences with one another). The application would be built upon Ionic, an hybrid open source software development kit (SDK) [6] which was chosen because of the numerous reusable code and the various Cordova plugins available that would allow easier development of the various features of the mobile application. Firebase has been chosen as the backend database for the application due to the numerous amounts of services that it offers in addition to the online database that it offers, like cloud messaging, authentication services, analytics services etc., all of which are essential in the development of the mobile application.
