Summary: | Nanotechnology has been widely used in various applications including the medical treatments such as the cancer therapy to eliminate tumor cells. One of the ways to provide treatment for cancer cells is using the heat(photothermal) therapy. In this following project, the Poly(benzobisthiadiazole-alt-thiophene) (BBTT) was used as a photothermal therapy nano-agent. The chemical & physical properties of BBTT were tested to determine its ability to perform in the elimination of the tumor cells. To do that, the tests such as the biodegradation experiments, cytotoxicity experiments, the photothermal effect tests were done. From the results, the BBTT demonstrates its ability as an excellent photothermal agent with good photostability and minimal cytotoxicity effects on the cells. Hence, with more improvements or add-ons on its features and more in-vivo experiments, the BBTT polymer would then be able to present itself as an efficient and excellent photothermal cancer therapy agent in the near future. |
