It allows remote sensing and control across network infrastructure and creates opportunities for a more efficient blend between the physical world and computer systems. The purpose of the project is to improve the lives of students living in the campus hostel. It can be seen that not many “smart” features have yet to be implemented, especially in the older blocks of hostel. In order to achieve the desired goals, research and review has been carried out extensively to learn how the IoT products are being put into good use in practice, and how they can serve as useful examples for our project. While transforming the hostel environment, it will greatly bring about convenience, security, and a wholesome digital experience into the daily lives of the students. This is in line with the country’s goal of revolutionizing to be a smart nation. This project will make use of Bluetooth connectivity, Ethernet Connectivity, Arduino Uno boards, C++ programming, Android programming and various sensors to bring about the smart features mentioned. This is low in budget and suitable for further developments. However, in order to implement it on a large scale, a different group of complex hardware will have to be used while the same design principles will be applied. This project has achieved the goals of smart light functionality with the implementation of the photo sensor; smart Bluetooth enabled door lock, smart fan control with a temperature sensor and the implementation of an Android app. Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) 2019-06-06T07:18:10Z 2019-06-06T07:18:10Z 2019 Final Year Project (FYP) http://hdl.handle.net/10356/77796 en Nanyang Technological University 61 p. application/pdf |
