Description
Summary:Water vapor pressure plays an important role in cloud formation. In the literature, different types of cloud detection model were introduced. However, for this project, the focus will be on Water Vapor Pressure model for cloud detection. This model has derived a critical water vapor pressure value using the data from tropical region. In this paper, critical water vapor models for the sub-tropical and temperate regions were further investigated. It was noted that previous water vapor pressure model for the tropical region did not include the seasonal effects, as there were negligible seasonal fluctuations. However, for the sub-tropical and temperate regions, seasonal fluctuations became significant and therefore, the water vapor pressure values at different seasons must be investigated. Furthermore, different kinds of meteorological data such as the radiosonde and METAR were introduced as they play an important part in the investigation. Correspondingly, season-dependent critical water vapor pressure models were then proposed for cloud detection. MATLAB is used as a software tool to plot important plots and figures as well as to analyze important data provided by radiosonde and METAR.
