Summary: | Singapore is in the equatorial region and has abundant of solar resources. Solar energy is greatly dependent on weather conditions. Hence, the fluctuations of solar irradiance due to weather conditions will directly affects the quality of solar panel output power. Examples of weather conditions that will cause fluctuation of solar irradiance will be having haze and clouds. And if this moment generated zero power output and next moment having generated 100% power output, this affects the quality of the grid as it inevitably introduces a lot of noise. The grid connected PV system with battery energy storage system (BESS) can effectively solve this problem. To smoothen the violent fluctuations of solar panel output, a battery is mounted on the DC bus to compensate the effect of solar irradiance fluctuations. This project will focus on the topology of solar panels, DC converters, DC and AC converters, and their associated closed loop feedback circuits. This project will also be tested on software and hardware in loop. In order to test the system stability, actual data will be used and whole system will be testing on and off load condition. |
