Working on the previous project where the helmet has a custom-built-tracking and motion detection device using the technology of Inertia Measurement Unit (IMU) and Global Positioning System (GPS), we are now interested in further developing more gears to help increase construction sites safety. First being the ability to track if the construction worker is wearing the helmet, and second being the holistic approach towards a suite of overall Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a typical construction worker. The aim of this project is to greatly improve the safety of the workers at a construction site. Safety is the number one factor in engineering industry especially in construction sectors. The construction process is highly dangerous as seen from the high rate of occurrences of work-related injuries and fatalities. As much as workers are take precautionary measures in their day to day activities, unforeseen accidents are inevitable. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to have a pool of safety data to improve strategy development. By implementing a wearable technology that has the potential to obtain result-oriented data and providing real-time information of workers location, it will allow immediate action to reduce accident rates. The purpose of this study is to detect if the construction workers have their PPEs on as well as to closely monitor his vitals during his work period. In most, if not all engineering industries, workplace safety is the key emphasis in the companies, especially in the construction industry. These devices will indefinitely improve the safety and communication system at construction sites by sending real-time data to supervisors. Such monitoring system will be valuable for the supervisors to provide close monitoring of their workers.
