An alternative to supplement the demands of our daily energy needs is to harness energy from sunlight. In some companies, reflection mirrors are being used to transfer light source from one place to another. Installation of solar panels has intensified in order to convert solar energy to electrical energy and supply back to the grid, like Sunseap Singapore, which sell its energy in the open electrical market. In this project, we will survey the current technology on green energy lighting and explore the possibility of combining them for better usage. One of it will be using solar panel to convert solar to electrical energy and store the charges in battery for usage in the night for LED lighting. With the current technology of LED light, which is lower in power and high in lumen, we can capitalize on these two technologies to derive a lower power and more efficient light source. The other aspect will be to use energy from the Sun directly to brighten up different parts of the room and reduce the wastage of having electrical light fittings. Currently in Singapore, BCA is encouraging new buildings to include solar lighting tube, to make the building to achieve better energy efficiency. BCA Academy (based on reports - local schools) is the first in Singapore to have install the solar tube light in their campus.
