Description
Summary:Traffic congestion has been an alarming problem in many countries including Singapore in recent years. As the population grows, the number of cars on the road is expected to increase as well. To counter this pervasive issue of traffic congestion, various systems have been implemented to analyse traffic flow, identify and minimise road accidents and examine trends to help citizens have an efficient time on the road. This project focuses on the use of different image segmentation and enhancement techniques to process images which were extracted from a pre-recorded video footage of Singapore road traffic for analysis. A Graphical User Interface (GUI), which was developed and coded using MathWorks MATLAB, was used to test different combinations of image segmentation and image enhancement techniques. These combinations were investigated and tested and the combination which yielded the most accurate vehicle count with the highest efficiency was identified and implemented.
