Description
Summary:Multiplex social systems refers to systems with multiple layers of complex networks, where nodes are connected both inter-layer and intra-layer. Once any of the layers starts to crash, the status of nodes in these layers could affect their inter-layer connection, thus causing nodes in other layers to leave the network, which represents the steps of cascading failure. Also, since in most of the social systems, not every participant pays the same attention to socialize, causing different weights of edges in the network. how “k-q cascade” model works in weighted network is also worth discussing. In this report, the “k-q cascade” model developed by Assoc. Prof. Xiao Gaoxi is introduced to simulate cascading failure of the network. First, several simulations on single-layer networks were processed in order to replicate the result on Prof. Xiao’s research. Then the k-q cascading model will be tested on weighted single-layer network, unweighted multiplex network and finally, weighted multiplex network.
