Summary:This project aims to create an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) wireless sensor network for gait analysis using two Ultra-wideband transmitters placed on lower limbs equidistant from the sagittal plane. Optical motion capture camera system will be used as the reference system and the gold standard. The UWB wireless sensor network was found to be able to perform coordination assessment and tracking of 3D trajectory during a human gait cycle. High Accuracy along the walking path enables spatial and temporal gait parameters to be extracted using this UWB sensor network. Phase 1 of this project involves getting these parameters using two-way ranging for one mobile node. Gait analysis will be performed for varying speeds of 1km/h, 2km/h and 3km/h. Subject would walk for one minute for each speed class. Phase 2 of this project would involve integrating a second mobile node into the wireless sensor network. The same experiments in that of phase 1 will be tested in phase 2 to obtain critical spatial and temporal parameters that are useful for gait analysis.
