Description
Summary:This report will be based on static mechanical property test of Singapore rocks (i.e Bukit Timah Granite) after ultra-high temperature treatment ranging from ambient temperature of 25C to 600C. The thermal effect was considered to replicate the in-situ underground temperatures and conditions which can be as high as 1000C or more. Ultrasonic P-wave velocity test is conducted, with the aid of the PROCEQ PUNDIT Lab Velocity Test System, to investigate the thermal damage of granite after thermal treatment at the various temperature. The uniaxial compression test is conducted, with the aid of the Mechanical Test System compression machine, to investigate the static properties. The results obtained from the experiment would be compared to investigate the static mechanical properties of the granite samples under different thermal temperature conditions. The AE count and energy from the Acoustic Emission test would also determine when failure occurs in the sample at different stress force and magnitude of the failure.
