Summary: | Multi-rate filter banks play an important role in the field of signal processing. Many filter bank designs have been proposed. However, these design methods of filter banks are often derived based on mathematical derivations and in general, a design method of a filter bank tends to be for one specific application. This makes the design approach difficult to be extended for a more general filter bank structure. In addition, complex mathematical derivations make users without enough related background difficult to understand.
In this report, a new design method of filter banks is studied, which uses signal graphic transformations to derive low complexity filter banks based on DFT structure. This approach is more general and avoids the complex mathematical formula derivations, so that it is much easier to be understood. By manipulating multi-rate signal flow graphs, the structures of maximum decimated filter bank and the non-maximum decimated filter bank are obtained.
In this report, the prototype filter is designed according to the method mentioned above. Important derivation steps of non-maximally decimated filter bank are simulated to verify the correctness of this method. |
