Static Tensile Test will be performed on the specimen and result will be compared with previous FYP student and industrial theoretical findings. The purpose of this reports is to have an understanding of the ASTM Standard and literature review regarding static tensile test. Follow by conducting the test to obtain their mechanical properties. This report will be useful for future reference regarding static tensile test on Aluminium 6061-T6. The objective of this project is to fabricate specimen according to the ASTM standard for tensile testing. The aim of the experiment is to find out the difference between the longitudinal and transverse direction specimen. Different specimen direction has a different grain structure which could affect the mechanical properties of a material. For ease of comparison, 1.6mm/min feed rate would be used in the experiment within the feed rate stated in ASTM. In aid of this project, ASTM E8/E8M-16a standard and relevant standard documents will be used as a guide throughout this project. Data obtained from the experiment will be use to plot stress-strain curve and retrieve properties of the specimen. Author will adapt to changes and improve according to needs. Validating and methods used to obtain any result will be stated in this report or guide for future student reference. Recommendation to improve on the experiment will be made for the future student doing the same project. Lastly, a detailed guide for this project would be prepared by the author through improving guides done by previous students. The guide aims to improve the clarity in experiment steps and ways to obtain a more accurate and reliable result.
