Assembly of two-dimensional MXene
This study aims to investigate how different functional groups on MXene thin film can affect its ion sieving capabilities. This property was chosen to explore MXene’s thin film’s capabilities as a membrane used in the distillation process. MXene was first delaminated into single or few layered Nano-...

This property was chosen to explore MXene’s thin film’s capabilities as a membrane used in the distillation process. MXene was first delaminated into single or few layered Nano-sheets by dispersing MXene in acetone. However, with the addition of acetone caused the filter paper to dissolve and the sample to be completely untestable. The next method attempted is to disperse MXene in de-ionized water, sonicating and finally filtering it out on filter paper. Although, this method has not been very consistent in creating a consistent layer, it can at least produce a usable thin film that has shown MXene’s capabilities as a membrane in the distillation process.
