异国异族形象与异国情调是张爱玲文学作品中的重要组成部分。张爱玲是中国现代文学史上一名独具魅力的作家，与异国的渊源深厚。她的出生背景与求学经验，确立了她自身的双重文化背景与独特的观看视角。身为一名精通双语的才女，爱玲不曾受语言隔阂，大量地阅读了各国的文学作品。她笔下的异国异族形像潜藏着自我的民族形象。首先，本文将以比较文学的形象学研究方法，研究张爱玲个人和社会集体想象，以确立作者笔下异国形象塑造的理论基础。再者，以跨文类的方式梳理其笔下的异国异族形象，并分类分析之。然后，涉略其他作家对张爱玲文学创作的影响。除了探讨异国异族形象的内部层面意义，如形象特征、终极关怀与生活困境等议题，本文也将从外部层面着手，考察作者在塑造异国异族形象背后的社会、心理、文化、政治等原因。接着，考察自我与他者间相互投射的互动关系，以分析张爱玲的待客之道。Foreign image is an important field of study in Eileen Chang's literary works. Eileen Chang is a great writer in the history of modern Chinese literature with close relationship with foreign countries. Both her background and educational background have given rises to her dual cultural background with a unique perspective, which makes her stands out from others. As a bilingual individual, there is no language barrier for her to read foreign literature works in both Chinese and English. Self-image can be found in exotic image of her literary works. Firstly, this paper will be using the method of image study in comparative literature to research on individual imagination and social collective imagination, forming the theoretical basis for shaping exotic image in Eileen Chang's literary works. The research and analysis will be carried across all genres of her works. Next, the paper will also consist of research on possible influences to Eileen Chang's creation from others contemporary writer's foreign imagination texts. Apart from examining the internal analysis on exotic image, inclusive of aspects in exotic characters, their primary concerns and predicament, this paper also focuses on external analysis. The analysis will focus on the following aspects which concerns the writer: social aspects, psychological aspects, cultural aspects and political aspects. In addition, the relationship between self and the other will also be examined in order to produce a comprehensive analysis and elaboration on Eileen Chang's hospitality.
