Disappearing dividends : an East Asian perspective
We track dividend trends for 8 countries in East Asia from the period 1975 to 2000. We attempt to explain for these trends using firm-specific and country-level determinants. We find that there is indeed a trend of declining dividends as per documented by Fama and French for US-based firms.
