A model of laminar-turbulent transition based on viscous stream buckling
The model of viscous streams’ buckling is used to determine values of the local Reynolds numbers, for which transition to turbulence begins. These values are then used to estimate the global critical Reynolds numbers. The method discussed in this work has been used to determine the critical values o...

الملخص: | The model of viscous streams’ buckling is used to determine values of the local Reynolds numbers, for which transition to turbulence begins. These values are then used to estimate the global critical Reynolds numbers. The method discussed in this work has been used to determine the critical values of the Reynolds number in some well-known flows, e. g. flow over a flat plate, circular pipe flow and free jets. The values thus found agree well with the known critical Re. |
