The sensor is then dipped coated in polyvinyl alcohol to make it sensitive to humidity. The shift of the interference fringes was measured when the sensor was placed in a humidity chamber of varying humidity. High sensitivity was obtained when the relative humidity is above 50% RH as an exponential relation of relative humidity and interference shift was established.
