Summary: | This paper presents a study on active control of the flow-induced vibrations (FIVs) on head gimbals assemblies (HGA) inside hard disk drives (HDDs), including analogue demonstrations and digital close-loop implementations. The results show that the feedback pressure fluctuations generated by a piezoelectric disk inside the HDD can effectively suppress the FIVs on the HGA. The disk and HGA vibration modes inside the working HDD are also presented to understand the possible mechanism in current control. |
