A variety of 1,2-dihydronaphthalenes, 2H-chromenes, and 1,2-dihydroquinolines containing a phenylsulfenyl or N-phenyl-N-tosyl group on the sp2-hybridized benzylic carbon were prepared in good to excellent yields.
