Summary: | What will be the impact of Internet development for citizens, businesses, education and associations? How to seize this opportunity to make Belgium a key player in the use of new information and communication technologies? How can Belgium play a leading role in the knowledge society? After 18 months of intensive work, the Economic Circle of the King Baudouin Foundation - made up of sixteen business leaders and chaired by Bruno van Lierde, Senior Vice President of The Boston Consulting Group - offers a report that answers these questions. The Circle concludes with 30 concrete and specific proposals to propel Belgium to the forefront of the development of new information and communication technologies. In order to ensure the scientific quality of its work, the Economic Circle has called upon Arnoud De Meyer. He coordinated the research which, for certain specific aspects, was carried out in collaboration with teams of researchers from the Universities of Liège and Leuven. |
