LAI, Yoke Yong CHAN, Kim Yan BEDFORD, Olwen Independent of the stage of economic development, entrepreneurship plays a significant role for the expansion, job creation and overall economic health within a country. As a leading international indicator of entrepreneurial activity around the world, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) provides valuable insight into the state of entrepreneurship within and across developed and developing economies. Knowing the entrepreneurial aspirations of country’s residents is particularly relevant to Singapore’s innovation-driven economy given that the country’s prosperity depends largely on the economic activities of its citizens. We describe the key definitions and terms used in the GEM as well as the stages of entrepreneurship in Singapore. We then summarize the key findings of the GEM Singapore 2012 and draw comparisons with other developed countries as well as those located near Singapore. 2013-07-01T07:00:00Z text application/pdf https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/lkcsb_research/5975 https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/context/lkcsb_research/article/6974/viewcontent/1366860759GEM_2012_Singapore_Report.pdf http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business eng Institutional Knowledge at Singapore Management University Entrepreneurship Singapore Asian Studies Entrepreneurial and Small Business Operations |
