This is especially so for older adults as their sphere of mobility decreases and their functional capacity may decline as they age, making their immediate environment more vital in shaping their lives. Studies have established the importance and impact of the physical environment on health and well-being of older adults across various communities (Addae-Dapaah 2008; Alidoust and Bosman 2015; Gale et al. 2011; Oswald et al. 2007). A study on older adults in Singapore found that living environment and provision of services and facilities are some of the factors that contribute to the overall well-being of older adults, in addition to personal well-being, interpersonal relationships and housing quality (Addae-Dapaah 2008). Another study in Singapore found that having accessible amenities was important for neighbourhood satisfaction, with parks, water bodies, community gardens, and elderly care facilities positively correlated with neighbourhood satisfaction (Tao et al. 2021). 2023-08-01T07:00:00Z text application/pdf https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/rosa_reports/18 https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/context/rosa_reports/article/1017/viewcontent/Neighbourhood_Satisfaction___Networks_Among_Older_Adults_in_Singapore.pdf http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ ROSA Research Briefs eng Institutional Knowledge at Singapore Management University Built environment neighbourhoods ageing in place health district older adults Singapore Asian Studies Family, Life Course, and Society Gerontology Place and Environment |
