In particular, we focus on the performance implications of project teams that chose to augment structured, plan-driven processes to implement the CMM level-5 Key Process Areas (KPAs) with agile methods. Our analysis of 112 software projects reveals that the decision to augment the firm-recommended, plan-driven approach with improvised, agile methods was significantly affected by the extent of client knowledge and involvement, newness of technology, and the project size. Furthermore this decision had a significant and mostly positive impact on project performance indicators such as reuse, rework, defect density, and productivity. 2009-05-01T07:00:00Z text application/pdf https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/sis_research/458 info:doi/10.1109/ICSE.2009.5070551 https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/context/sis_research/article/1457/viewcontent/ProcessChoiceHighMaturityEnviron_icse2009.pdf http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems eng Institutional Knowledge at Singapore Management University Software engineering distributed software engineering empirical analysis Software Engineering
