Unlike existing systems, Vignette preserves illustrators’ workflow and style: users draw a fraction of a texture and use gestures to automatically fill regions with the texture. Our exploration of natural work-flow and gesture-based interaction was inspired by traditional way of creating illustrations. We currently support both 1D and 2D synthesis with stitching. Our system also has interactive refinement and editing capabilities to provide a higher level texture control, which helps artists achieve their desired vision. Vignette makes the process of illustration more enjoyable and that first time users can create rich textures from scratch within minutes. 2012-05-01T07:00:00Z text application/pdf https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/sis_research_all/2 https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1019&context=sis_research_all http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ Research Collection School of Information Systems eng Institutional Knowledge at Singapore Management University Pen and ink illustration sketch texture creativity Computer Sciences
