Biography: Associate Professor of Accounting, SMU, 2000–present Member of SMU start-up team Professor Leong Kwong Sin, an SMU ‘pioneer’, joined the start-up team for the new university in 1998. Today he is an associate professor of accounting in the School of Accountancy. He was named one of the outstanding teachers in the School of Accountancy in December 2005. His research interests include the area of accounting disclosure, accounting education, corporate governance and financial reporting and disclosure. Prior to joining academia, Professor Leong worked in management and systems accounting for a multinational company. He has taught undergraduate and master of business administration students in an academic career that spans four universities—the University of Singapore, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and the Singapore Management University. His administrative appointments include founding deputy director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre at NTU; director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology–Nanyang Technological University collaboration programme; Head, Division of Actuarial Science & Insurance, NTU; Head, Division of Financial & Management Accounting, NTU. Professor Leong is a member of EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology. He graduated with a bachelor of accountancy degree from the former University of Singapore and received a master’s degree in Commerce from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.
