Criminal Tendencies: The International Breakdown of Law and Order

Crime is a growth industry. Though crime statistics are notoriously difficult to interpret, most measures seem to show an inexorable rise. According to UN figures, reported crime for the period 1976-1986 increased globally at 5 per cent per year - well above the growth in population.
