Of the sixty-three United nations sanctions episodes studies by the consortium, forty-three involve regional organizations, in some cases a multiplicity of them. In twelve sanctions regimes, regional sanctions preceded the UN sanctions, and in ten cases, unilateral sanctions preceded the UN sanctions. In fact only six episodes are of standalone UN sanctions. This suggests that staes subject to sanctions are increasingly targeted by a combination of UN and regional measure. 2016-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/soss_research/1969 info:doi/10.1017/CBO9781316460290.006 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9781316460290.006 Research Collection School of Social Sciences eng Institutional Knowledge at Singapore Management University Sanctions United Nations regional organizations International Relations and International Organisations UN and International Organisations International Relations
