Summary: | The study “Citizen Participation in Road Construction Projects Management of Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization” aimed to study the levels of knowledge and understanding in participation in the road construction projects of the citizen, examine the formats and levels of the citizen participation in the road construction projects management of Chiang Mai Provincial administrative organization, and explore the problems and obstacles in participation as well as the effects of not participation in the road construction projects management of Chiang Mai Provincial administrative organization. The study was conducted in areas of the road construction projects management of Chiang Mai Provincial administrative organization in the 2556 (B.E.) fiscal year. The samples, from each project, included 399 people residing in the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization and 38 administrators and councilors.
The data revealed that concerning the citizen participation in the road construction projects management of Chiang Mai provincial administrative organization, more than half of the citizen had the understanding about the participation in the road construction projects management of Chiang Mai provincial administrative organization. However, the overall level of participation and the level of participation in every process was at a low level. The reasons for the low level of participation were due to the majority of the citizen did not hear anything or know about the road construction projects and they did not know their roles in the participation in the projects.
In terms of obstacles, it was found that the most important obstacle was the process in creating the plans and the proposals. Furthermore, the most important reasons for not participating in the projects were the citizen did not have the information or knowledge about the road construction projects in their provincial administrative organization and they did not know their roles and rights in managing the projects. |
