Summary: | This research aims at exploring and studying opinions of fish-feeding farmers on Liang Pla Ban Tam Mueang Phayao Cooperative Limited. The population of this research was 192 commercially fish-feeding farmers in Muang District, Dok Kham Tai District and Phu Kam Yao District of Phayao Province. Raw data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed by using statistical methods. The data showed frequency distribution, percentage, mean with standard deviation. Chi-Square test was used for analysis the relationship between treatment means among factors.
The result showed that the majority fish-feeding farmers were male with the range of age from 41-60 years old and had 3-4 years of fish-feeding experiences. Most of them were married and had 3 member of family. The population had education level at elementary school and recognized the cooperative for about 4 years or exactly 3.66 years. Most of the population are members of Liang Pla Ban Tam Mueang Phayao Cooperative Limited, and are not the member of the other cooperatives. Most of the population who are not the members of Liang Pla Ban Tam Mueang Phayao Cooperative Limited showed their opinion that do not want to be the cooperative members. Most of fish-feeding farmers have their own area for feeding fish about 3-5 Rai. (1 Rai = 1600 square metres), have invested by their own money and loan some money from the financial institutions (ie. Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Co-operative, BAAC). The population may request loan for production factor from the cooperative. The amount of loan was about 80,000 Baht per each feeding cycle. Each fish-feeding farmer who work as part time activity from their principal agriculture (ie. rice farming, fruit gardening), had less than 3 household workers and earned their income about 15001-20000 Baht per month. Non-member farmer sold their fish to the middleman via broker and the cooperative’s members sold their fish to the middleman via the cooperative. The price of fish is classified by size of the fish (labled by number). The No.1 (the biggest) is 55-59 Baht/kg, No.2 is 50-52 Baht/kg, No.3 is 35-39 Baht/Kg and No.4 is 24-27 Baht/Kg.
The results of this research classified the opinion of fish-feeding farmers on Liang Pla Ban Tam Mueang Phayao Cooperative Limited into 4 aspects as following images of cooperatives, incomes and returns, services of cooperatives and learning & occupation support. In conclusion, the learning & occupation support of cooperative are in the most appropriate level (average 4.22), the farmers agreed that the training programs provided the benefit to the farmers and cooperatives can provide the training programs. The high appropriate level of opinions were the images of cooperative (average 3.71) and services of cooperatives (average point 3.42), the farmers favor the location and dependability of cooperative. The farmers satisfied the incomes & returns (average 3.38) in moderate appropriate level.
The results of studying the relationship between independent variables and opinions of farmers found that the independent variables appears to affect opinions of farmers as following graduation level had the relation with service of cooperatives. Fish-feeding experience had the relation with the images of cooperatives and incomes & returns. Land ownership had the relation with the images of cooperatives. Membership status of cooperative had the relation with the opinions on the images of cooperatives, incomes & returns and learning & occupation support. And membership status of other cooperatives had the relation with the opinions on the images of cooperatives, incomes and returns. |
