Summary: | This thesis studies the creative characteristics of Niw Klom’s nonfiction work and explores creative writing technique that makes his work different from those written in conventional styles. The study uses Suphan Thongkloy’s idea of creative nonfiction writing and the concept of “Defamiliarization” introduced by the Russian Formalism in analyzing Niw Klom’s selected 6 nonfictional books.
The study finds that the creative characteristics and writing technique in all of his work examined here are due to the compositional technique of his content that renders his documentary work different from the conventional style and “defamiliarizes” his reader. His creative style and the technique Defamiliarization are a result of the “collaboration” of abstract elements in nonfiction writing, namely, topic, imagination in presenting, objective, concrete elements, namely, writing from and information.
In addition, the result of this study shows that the creative and characteristics and creative writing technique which resulting in the effect of the artistic technique, shown in Niw Klom`s nonfiction writing significantly emphasizes “Literariness” of creative nonfiction writing or the new documentary. |
