Upconversion luminescence study of Er³⁺in Gadolinium-Calcium-Silicoborate glasses

The new glass series were prepared in compositions 25Gd 2 O 3 -10CaO-10SiO 2 -(55-x) B 2 O 3 -xEr 2 O 3 (where x is 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 mol %) by normal melt-quenching technique at the melting temperature of 1,400 °C.
