High-purity CaO2with nanosized spherical particle was observed. Disinfection effect of the CaO2powders was investigated using Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). Surprisingly, photoactivity of CaO2was discovered. The CaO2exhibited intriguing photoactivity on dye oxidation and reduction under visible light.
