Summary: | © 2019 IEEE. This research aims at addressing a grammatical design development of a 3D character that reflexes Thai identity for children. There are many styles of character design. Eastern and Western styles are totally difference. The most influential style from the East is the Japanese style. Thai artists get huge impact by the Japanese style. This is reflexed from their study periods, in other words, their school time. Form the studies of students' character design style of second and third year students studying in various fields of animation and game design, the result shown more than half get influences from Japanese style in their works. Mastering a style from other countries is not always a bad thing as long as they keep their original style attached. The development and adaptation of one style to create their own is the way arts develop. This research does not aim at defining what Thai style character design should be but how to attach our Thai identity to the design. A case study of a design development of a character that reflexes Thai identity using grammatical design development is the aim of this research. The target group of this research are children age between eight and twelve. The design must hold elements that suitable to the target group and reflex Thai identity at the same time. |
