The undoped Zn 2TiO 4 and Pt-doped Zn 2TiO 4 nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The BET surface area (SSA BET) of the nanoparticles was measured by nitrogen adsorption. The average diameter of the spherical nanoparticles were in the range of 5.7-6.9 nm under 5/5 (precursor/oxygen) flame conditions. All peaks can be confirmed to correspond to the cubic structure of Zn 2TiO 4 (JCPDS No. 25-1164). © 2011 Elsevier B.V.
