The study of determinant factors towards farmer’s decision making for colored-rice planting in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai provinces have exploring determinant factors towards farmer’s decision making for colored-rice planting in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai provinces. This study aims for studying farmer’s attitude towards colored-rice comparing with Hom Nin rice planting. 320 questionnaires were collected from those who were registered as rice farmer during 2013-2014 in these two provinces. Multinomial logistic regression was employed for data analysis. The findings as showed as followings: • The economic factors particular income was the strongest determinant factor towards farmer’s decision making for colored-rice planting in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai provinces. • Once, the study exploring on each colored rice planting, it was founded that the determinant factors towards farmer’s decision making for red jasmine rice planting in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai provinces were agricultural group, planting for their own consumption and sell for the left over, farmer’s life experience for colored-rice planting, area of landscape, income from yearly planting, and commitment. • While, Rice berry, it was found that the determinant factors towards farmer’s decision making for planting in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai provinces were agricultural group, planting for their own consumption and sell for the left over, area of landscape, cost from second-year planting, price of paddy, and product’s guarantee. • Finally, Black sticky rice it was found that the determinant factors towards farmer’s decision making for planting in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai provinces were agricultural group, planting for their own consumption and sell for the left over, farmer’s life experience for colored-rice planting, the landscape, cost from second-year planting, product’s guarantee, and commitment.
