Summary:This study had the objectives of investigating the working conditions, income, expenses, wellbeing and satisfaction of the migrant workers in the cleaning service of Chiang Mai University. Data collection was done via a questionnaire distributed to 170 migrant workers in the cleaning service of Chiang Mai University and analysis was done by descriptive statistics. Analysis of the migrant workers’ happiness or satisfaction with their work involved 4 areas: working, income and welfare, health and the living conditions weighed by the Likert Scale. The findings were that most of the migrant workers were female, single and 33 years of age on average. They were of the Tai Yai ethnic people with Buddhist beliefs. They were able to speak, read and write in the Thai language but very little. They entered the Thai Kingdom via the border at Mae Sai District and had to pay approximately 8,891 Baht per person for their travel expenses and other expenses. These migrant workers worked as daily wage workers for the company that won the bid to do the cleaning service for Chiang Mai University. They had to work 8 hours per day, 5 days a week for 300 Baht a day. Their average household income was 16,145 Baht per month and their average household expenses were 9,555 Baht monthly, most of these workers rented a house and paid 2,313 Baht average monthly rent. They had worked for about 3 years each. The kinds of vehicles they used were personal bicycles and motorcycles. Those who managed to send money to their families sent approximately 8,035 Baht per year. Their work satisfaction was at a moderate level. They were satisfied with their living conditions the most, which concerned good relationships with their neighbors and love and relationships with their family members. Next was work satisfaction, which concerned the working equipment and safety of the equipment.
