Summary: | The study “Result of Implementation of Accommodation Standards for Long Stay Tourism (TTS 206: 2009) in The Enterprises, Mueang Chiang Mai District” aimed to 1) examine the results of the implementation of the accommodation standards for long stay tourism and to implement the results in the enterprises providing the accommodation for long stay tourists in Mueang Chiang Mai District, 2) investigate the problems and obstacles in implementing the accommodation standards for long stay tourism in the enterprises providing accommodation for long stay tourists in Mueang Chiang Mai District, 3) study the satisfaction of the long stay tourists from the quality of the services offered by the enterprises providing long stay accommodation in Mueang Chiang Mai District, and 4) examine the readiness of the related government sectors in Mueang Chiang Mai District in promoting and supporting the enterprises to implement the TTS 206:2552.
The data collection methods were reviewing related documents, in-depth interviews, participant observations, and questionnaires. The participants in the interviews were divided into two groups. The first group included four government officials responsible for supporting the enterprises to implement the TTS 206:2552. In addition, the second group consisted of four administrators of the enterprises implemented the TTS 206:2552. These enterprises were chosen under the criteria including the enterprises were popular among the tourists with many service users and the administrators were willing to provide the information. Moreover, 152 long stay tourists from four enterprises responded to the questionnaire. From analyzing the data, the followings are the findings.
1. From adopting the results of the implementation of accommodation standards for long stay tourism (TTS 206: 2552) by the owners or administrators of the enterprises, it was found that all four enterprises had better service quality and improved all elements of the TTS 206:2552.
2. For the problems and obstacles in implementing the accommodation standards for long stay tourism in the enterprises providing accommodation for long stay tourists in Mueang Chiang Mai District, the data indicated that Kantary Hills Chiang Mai did not have any obstacles in implementing the standards because their services were continuously improved. In addition, the hotel was certified the TTS 206:2552 by the Department of Tourism in 2012 and has kept the standards. However Baan Dok Kaew at McKean Rehabilitation Center by the Church of Christ in Thailand, Hillside Plaza & Condotel 4, and Nakornping Condominium were under the service improvement in some elements in preparation to apply for the standard certification. Also it was found that the government sectors were lack of continuous advancement, promotion and supports.
3. In terms of the satisfaction of the long stay tourists from the quality of the services offered by the enterprises providing the long stay accommodation, the study found that the satisfaction was at different levels: Kantary Hills Chiang Mai, Baan Dok Kaew at McKean Rehabilitation Center by the Church of Christ in Thailand , Hillside Plaza & Condotel 4, and Nakornping Condominium, respectively.
4. The government sectors were ready to promote and support the enterprises to implement the TTS 206: 2552, but they did not have sufficient budgets and officials. In addition, there were not clear and continuous policies from the government. |
