Summary:Sodium feldspar (Na-feldspar) is a main raw material in a ceramic industry. From the literature review found that in Na-feldspar inclusions in high volumes such as iron and titanium are not suitable for use in advanced ceramic industry. The objective of this study was to improve Na-feldspar quality in Sam Ngao, Tak province, Thailand, by removing impurities minerals. The results of chemical analysis on mineral compositions calculated by NormCalc program have revealed that the mineral composition compose of 76.16 % albite, 18.27 % quartz, 1.18 % anorthite and 0.89% orthoclase. The majority of impurities are chlorite and titanites made by thin section. In this study, Na-feldspar with 0.25 % TiO2 and 0.69 % Fe2O3 can be separated by flotation both at acidic and alkaline condition. The collectors used to float chlorite and titanites impurities are petroleum sulphonate, hydroxamate and oleic acid. It was found that petroleum sulphonate in acidic condition can be reduced to % 0.10 TiO2 and % 0.16 Fe2O3. And flotation by oleic acid in alkaline condition can be reduced to % 0.06 TiO2 and % 0.17 Fe2O3, as a result of single stage flotation process. It can be concluded that product from all flotation can be use in ceramic industry at all grades; tableware, sanitary and tiles product moreover the flotation in alkaline condition do not affect the machine and environment.
