The objective of this research is to study the patterns of Phra Sihing yantra cloth and the beliefs that appear on Phra Sihing yantra cloth. The scope of study is in 4 provinces including Chiang Mai, Lampang, Phrae and Nan by collecting 57 pictures and yantra cloth of Phra Sihing which were hand-written. The pictures and yantra cloth collected included both the old and new versions. This research collected information from two main experts, Phra Supachai Keereekatsuwan from Suan Dok Temple in Muang District, Chiang Mai Province and Phra Athikarnkitti Kittisopano from Tha Khum Ngoen Temple in Mae Ta District, Lamphun Province. The study found that there are two main patterns of Phra Sihing yantra cloth in Lanna, one that has a circular pattern and one that has additional patterns outside the circle. The circular pattern is the one specified in the textbook of Phra Sihing's procession that the ancient Lanna philosopher wrote in the document. As for the designs with additional patterns outside the Phra Sihing mandala circle were adapted according to the era to meet the needs of the user and the creativity of the yantra cloth creator, which uses art and beliefs to create beauty and meanings. As for the beliefs that appear on the Phra Sihing yantra cloth, included of both the beliefs that appear in the art image and beliefs in the ritual process to create the dignity of the yantra cloth. Both the styles and beliefs of the Phra Sihing yantra cloth in Lanna were based on a combination of the mandala motto of Mahayana Buddhism and the belief in cosmology of Theravada Buddhism, and also based on indigenous beliefs in the ritual and use as well. 2020-10-06T06:45:04Z 2020-10-06T06:45:04Z 2020-07 Independent Study (IS) http://cmuir.cmu.ac.th/jspui/handle/6653943832/69776 other เชียงใหม่ : บัณฑิตวิทยาลัย มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ |
