Manuscripts in most areas of science are welcomed except in areas such as agriculture, engineering and medical science which are outside the scope of the Journal. Currently, we focus on manuscripts in biology, chemistry, physics, materials science and environmental science. Papers in mathematics statistics and computer science are also included but should be of an applied nature rather than purely theoretical. Manuscripts describing experiments on humans or animals are required to provide proof that all experiments have been carried out according to the ethical regulations of the respective institutional and/or governmental authorities and this should be clearly stated in the manuscript itself. The Editor reserves the right to reject manuscripts that fail to do so. To assess the health risk of heavy metals in a typical agricultural area of the Sanjiang Plain, 53 soil samples were collected and tested to obtain the concentrations of As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sb, Se, Ti, V, and Zn in the soil. The enrichment factor indicated that most of the heavy metals in the agricultural soil were enriched, although the degree of enrichment was mild for these heavy metals. Coefficient analysis and principal component analysis indicated that As, Co, Mn, Pb, and Ti were mainly from coal burning; Cr, Cu, Ni, V, and Zn were mainly from the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides; Sb was mainly from traffic activities; and Se was mainly from natural sources. Humanhealth risk assessment indicated that the residents in the study area face high risk from carcinogens and low risk from non-carcinogens. As and Cr are the major heavy metals affecting human health. This study provides a reference for formulating effective measures to prevent and control heavy metal enrichment in agricultural soils. 2020-10-08T08:36:17Z 2020-10-08T08:36:17Z 2020 Chiang Mai Journal of Science 47,5 (Sep 2020), p.973-983 2465-3845 https://epg.science.cmu.ac.th/ejournal/dl.php?journal_id=11195 http://cmuir.cmu.ac.th/jspui/handle/6653943832/69909 Eng Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University
