Description
Summary:© 2020 IEEE. This work is importantly focused on increasing the gain of a quarter wave monopole antenna using a vertical wire medium structure, a one type of the metamaterial. A new technique of a metamaterial is competent to improve the efficiency of antenna by increasing its directivity, gain, radiation pattern, and impedance matching. This idea was investigated by both the simulated and measured results. It noted that the fabricated proposed quarter wave monopole with a vertical wire medium structure achieves a high gain of 4.99 dB that higher than the gain of a conventional quarter wave monopole about 3.23 dB at the operating in 1 GHz, supported the IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) applications. Moreover, they are in a good agreement between simulated and experimental results.
