th-cuir.182082012-05-15T14:25:05Z จอมพลเจ้าพระยาสุรศักดิ์มนตรีกับการดำเนินงานธุรกิจของท่าน ระหว่าง พ.ศ. 2428-2474 Field Marshal Chao Phya Surasakmontri and his business enterprise 1885-1931 ลักษมี รัตตสัมพันธ์ วรุณยุพา สนิทวงศ์ ณ อยุธยา ปิยนาถ บุนนาค จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย. บัณฑิตวิทยาลัย สุรศักดิ์มนตรี, เจ้าพระยา, 2394-2474 ป่าไม้ -- ไทย การทำป่าไม้ -- ไทย วิทยานิพนธ์ (อ.ม.)--จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย, 2523 วิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้เป็นการศึกษาบทบาทของจอมพลเจ้าพระยาสุรศักดิ์มนตรี (เจิม แสง-ชูโต) ตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. 2428-2474 ซึ่งเป็นการศึกษาบทบาทที่ครอบคลุมทั้งหน้าที่ขุนนางข้าราชการและการดำเนินธุรกิจสำหรับวัตถุประสงค์ของวิทยานิพนธ์ เล่มนี้ มุ่งให้ความสำคัญต่อบทบาทของจอมพลเจ้าพระยาสุรศักดิ์มนตรีในฐานะแกนสำคัญของการมองปัญหาในการดำเนินงานด้านธุรกิจของนายทุนไทยในช่วงระยะเวลาดังกล่าว เพื่อพิจารณาว่าโครงสร้างสังคมไทยแบบเก่าของไทยเปิดโอกาสให้ชนกลุ่มใดดำเนินธุรกิจ พร้อมทั้งวิเคราะห์ถึงสาเหตุที่ประสบผลสำเร็จหรือไม่-ประสบผลสำเร็จอย่างไร ผลจากการศึกษาพบว่า บทบาทในการเป็นขุนนางข้าราชการมีส่วนสัมพันธ์กับการลงทุนธุรกิจของคนไทยในขณะนั้น ทั้งนี้เนื่องจากการลงทุนในธุรกิจของนายทุนไทย ส่วนใหญ่กู้เงินทุนจากพระคลังข้างที่หรือพระคลังข้างที่มีหุ้นส่วนในการลงทุนด้วยความสัมพันธ์และความใกล้ชิดกับแหล่งเงินทุนจึงเป็นสิ่งจำเป็นมาก เพราะเป็นที่มาแห่งสิทธิพิเศษดังกล่าว การศึกษากรณีตัวอย่างที่กล่าวมาแล้วจะเห็นได้ว่าผู้ที่ลงทุนส่วนใหญ่เป็นขุนนางทั้งสิ้น ลักษณะการลงทุนของคนไทยขณะนั้นจึงมีลักษณะเป็นนายทุนข้าราชการ และกิจการที่ประสบผลสำเร็จนั้น ส่วนใหญ่เป็นกิจการของคนไทยแต่มีผู้จัดการเป็นชาวต่างชาติและมีพระคลังข้างที่ร่วมลงทุนด้วย เป็นการตัดปัญหาค่าใช้จ่ายเรื่องดอกเบี้ย พระคลังข้างที่มักจะลงทุนในธุรกิจที่มีการจัดการ การบริหารงานที่ดี และการที่คนไทยเป็นนายทุนไม่ได้นอกจากมีสาเหตุจากการขาดเงินทุนต้องกู้ยืมเงิน พระคลังข้างที่แม้จะมีส่วนสนับสนุนด้วยการให้กู้เงินก็ตาม แต่ก็ยังขาดความรู้ความสามารถในการจัดการการบริหารตลอดจนโครงสร้างทางสังคมซึ่ง เอื้ออำนวยให้เจ้านายขุนนางข้าราชการชั้นสูงมีโอกาสในการลงทุนธุรกิจได้ This thesis concentrated its studies on the role of Field Marshal Chao Phya Surasakmontri (CHERM Saeng - Xuto) during 1885-1934 as a bureaucrat and as enterpriser. The emphasis on the role of Field Marshal Chao Phya Surasakmontri as the key to the studies of Thai Enterprisers during that period so as to consider which group of people had opportunities to do business under the social system of the past as well as to make on analysis of the causes of their success or failure in business by means of a comparison of the business of Field Marshal Chao Phya Surasakmontri with that of other enterprisers. The studies revealed that there was some connexion between the role of a bureaucrat and the role of a enterprisers on the account that the financial investment in the business of Thai Enterprisers derived from the Privy Purse, or the Privy Purse held some shares in their business. Thus, those enterprisers had to depend on that source of financial support which brought prcviledges to only people with close relations with the court. This was why most of the enterprisers were burearcrats. The chance for common people to become enterprisers was rare or even out of question. Thus, such a person during that period could be regarded as "Bureaucrat Capitalist". Most of Thai enterprisers oho succeeded in their business usually had foreigner as their manager and the Privy Purse as their shareholder. They then could leave out the problem of interests payment. The Privy Purse usually invested money in business with efficient administration.
