Atthasishtha Mahidol University Medicine It has been observed occasionally from the baby mouse cholera model that, the five to six day old mice orally infected with El tor Ogawa 17 developed intestinal congestion and consequent hemolysis in the organ along with other typical cholera signs. Many attempts have been made to isolate and purify the hemolysin for the study of its biological activities. It was found that the substance was a lipoprotein and was totally different from other enzymes of V. cholerae. It produces necrotic lesion when injected into the skin of rabbits. The present study describes the hemolysin purification by a procedure which is modified from that of Watanabe and Seaman (1962). 2018-06-01T06:30:23Z 2018-06-01T06:30:23Z 1979-12-01 Article Southeast Asian Journal of Tropical Medicine and Public Health.
