Bleeding diathesis in bacterial infection

The mechanism of bleeding in bacterial infections are reviewed. Three patterns of changes are clearly demonstrated: thrombocytopenia with elevated factor, V, VIII and fibrinogen; reduction of vitamin K dependent clotting factors with elevation of factor VIII,V and fibrinogen; DIC.
